Our Phygital Future is quickly emerging, blurring our physical and digital worlds as “smarts” get embedded into everyday objects, forever changing our lives

Ubiquitous smartphones are the perfect poster child for the emerging Phygital Era, the next generation of Information Age.  Let’s see how.

Famous First Words Launch Modern Communications Era
On March 10, 1876, Alexander Graham Bell launched the modern communications era when he uttered into the first telephone these words to his assistant:  “Mr Watson, come here.  I want to see you.”

Over the course of mankind’s history, communication has evolved from voice to smoke signals to telegraphs to phones.  Today,  140 years after Bell spoke those famous first words into a device that would become a telephone,it seems we use our smartphones for everything but talking: we go shopping, take photos and videos, send text messages, interact with social media other apps, play games, and get driving directions from this amazing device.
